Off Season is In!

After vacationing to Hawaii in the middle of January, I'm convinced that traveling during the off season is the way to get a whole lot of bang for your buck. Heres why....

5 Reasons to Travel During the Off-Season

1. Cheaper Flights and Hotels

Since fewer people travel during the off-season, airlines and hotels offer cheaper rates to entice you to book your vacation. The airfare for two adults would've nearly doubled if we'd booked this summer. I consider that a bargain in itself. After all, you don't want to spend all your money just to get there. 

2. Fewer Crowds

Nothing is worse than fighting to get one patch of sand when trying to relax on the beach. In the city (Waikiki), beaches were more crowded than I expected but I was told that it was nothing compared to the summer. We opted to go for the more secluded North Shore and a few others. When traveling from Waikiki beach to North Shore beach, locals told us that in the summer it can take over two hours just to get through traffic. It only took us a breezy, traffic free 30 minutes and thats with a stop for gas!

3. Locals Are More Relaxed

Nothing is worse than getting the "Ugh! Tourists" look or getting really poor service because the staff is overworked. The locals were easy going and even helpful. They would stop and tell us places to visit and tell us how lucky we were to be experiencing Hawaii outside of the tourist season.

4. Warm All Year Around

Hawaii has nice weather all year around. In January the average daytime temps are between 79-83. You can still go snorkeling, surfing or jet skiing. In the evening it can get a little cool, but its nothing that a little lightweight jean jacket or a couple of cocktails can't cure.

5. Non-stop Partying

There is always a festival, party or club to go to. Out of my seven nights, I clubbed and bar hopped five. It doesn't matter that its the off-season. No matter what day of the week or time of the day, there is always something to get into.
