Night at The McNay

Since moving to San Antonio, everyday I've driven by the museum hiding behind a mini forest and said, "I've got to go there one day". I finally did & now I'm stunned and in awe . Was the first museum of modern art in the state of Texas practically in my backyard all this time? Yes. The McNay was there all this time.

The historic Spanish Colonial Revival mansion-turned-museum showcases pieces by Gauguin, O'Keefe, Picasso and Robert Melton (<--cool stuff) just to name a few.

I appreciate and admire all forms of art but Im not exactly one of those pretentious "Artsy Fartsy" people who stares at pictures for hours on end in an emotional coma. I once tried to train myself to be the "deep" analytical type in a college art course but it just didn't work.  Everyone goes through that, right? (smiling to myself)

For me, the star of the show was French architect Jean-Paul Viguier, who designed the recent sleek glass pavilion. Old architecture fused with the new.... I get that.
